Rare framed daguerreotype of Ellen Medex, mistress of Henry St. John, 5th Viscount Bolingbroke. The couples lived on the continent, in London and in Brighton over a period of thirty years, going by the names of Mr and Mrs Morgan. They had four children together, one of whom survived and was baptised Ellen Rose St.John Morgan.

On her death Lord Bolingbroke misleadingly buried Ellen in the fashionable Egyptian Catacombs in Highgate Cemetery as 'Viscountess Bolingbroke'.
