East window, Lydiard Tregoze - before & after conservation (central panel Left - John the Baptist)

The East window of St. Mary's Lydiard Tregoze was vandalised in 1997 and partially boarded up prior to conservation.

The fundraising campaign was lead by President of the Friends of Lydiard Tregoz, Gerard Leighton, and described in his article The East Window of Lydiard Tregoze (Report no 35).

Here we see before and after photographs of the central panel (Left ) which depicts St. John the Baptist. Repairs included ones to his robe, the sunburst representing God above his figure and the small scene showing the baptism of Christ.

The conservation work was overseen by Dr Sebastian Strobl of Cathedral Studios at Canterbury alongside conservator Leonie Seliger.
