East window, Lydiard Tregoze - before & after conservation (tracery - angels & cherubs)
Hidden Content, Images, Videos and Documents
The East window of St. Mary's Lydiard Tregoze was vandalised in 1997 and partially boarded up prior to conservation.
The fundraising campaign for the conservation was lead by President of the Friends of Lydiard Tregoz, Gerard Leighton, and described in his article The East Window of Lydiard Tregoze (Report no 35).
Shown here are the before and after photographs of conservation to the tracery above the central lites (separately framed pieces of glass). This included a replacement painted glass head for the angel on the furthest right. In order to distinguish the new glass, conservator Leonie Seliger has initialled and dated the piece: LS 2000.
The conservation work was overseen by Dr Sebastian Strobl of Cathedral Studios at Canterbury.
