There are 30 annual licences in the Lydiard House museum collection. These were granted by the Inland Revenue in 1888 and 1889 to the elderly Henry St.John, 5th Viscount Bolingbroke and two of his employees.

They include permission for his lordship to employ male servants; to keep carriages, dogs and to kill game.

Shown here are a Gamekeepers Licence issued to Henry Hiscocks and a gun licence to John Painter.
