For a short period between the closure of the churchyard at St. Mary's Lydiard Tregoze and the opening of a new cemetery on Hook Street in 1891, local parishioners were buried at Radnor Street Cemetery in Swindon or other parishes where they had a connection.

Rector of Lydiard Tregoze, Thomas Trafford Shipman, M.A .was buried at Radnor Street Cemetery. We learn from his gravestone that he was also an Hon. Canon of Carlisle. He died on 27th August 1884 aged 53 years.
