Photograph of Barnaby Brown, the Schoolmaster at Hook Street School during the later half of the 19th century. Barnaby appears on the census at Hook Street School House for 1891 when he was 59 years old.

Born in Haslingden, Lancashire, Barnaby married Jane Eynon on 21st December 1858 in Lampeter Velfrey, Pembrokeshire. His first teaching post was at Lacock School in Wiltshire, followed by a period at Mere in Somerset before he took up the post at Hook. His wife Jane was the School Mistress.
