Valezina Frohawk was described as Lord Bolingbroke's 'auburn haired bride' in the newspapers covering their marriage in June 1950. The couple were both in their fifties and shared a love of natural history and music.

Vernon Henry St.John had been a friend and regular correspondent with Valezina's father, the eminent Lepidopterist Frederick Frohawk, author of several books on butterflies including The Complete Book of British Butterflies,1934. Frohawk had even named his daughter Valezina after the attractive Silver-washed Fritillary.

Unfortunately the marriage was a disaster, and was annulled in 1952. St.John historian, the late Rev. Brian Carne, conjectured that shell shock suffered during World War I had continued to affect Vernon's mental health.

Valezina continued to call herself Lady Bolingbroke and retained an interest in Lydiard Park, visiting it as an elderly lady in the 1990's.
