Arriving at Lydiard Park on a wintry November day on 7th November 1997, HM Queen Elizabeth was greeted by local people and children from nearby Lydiard Tregoze Primary School who had made the short walk to the park to cheer her arrival, waving their homemade flags.
The Queen who was accompanied by Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire Sir Maurice Johnson, was greeted on the steps of the house by Cllr Derique Montaut, Christine Pilkington, Managing Director of HTS Lydiard Park Conference Centre and Keeper of Lydiard House, Sarah Finch-Crisp.
