Stan Dash Band, Hook Village Hall, 1950's
Hidden Content, Images, Videos and Documents
Rare photograph of Stan Dash's band performing at Hook Village Hall. Stan and his band were popular local performers, playing regularly at Hook as well as The Angel , Purton and Cricklade Town Hall. Stan is seen standing on the left of the picture near the microphone.
Next to Stan, holding the trumpet is John Charlsworth, a talented musician who played at the Savoy. Music ran in the family - John's aunt Gertie Gough who lived at the Lydiard Park 'Camp' is playing the piano. Gertie was the organist at St. Mary's Lydiard Tregoze for many years. Another member of the band, Bernard Smith of Wootton Basset, is seated third from left (with round spectacles).
Hazel Gibbs is sitting just below the stage, far left.
We would love to discover who the other band members were as well as members of the audience.
Dennis Archer is second from the right. (audience or band member?)
Bill Bastin and David Sellwood are also in the photo (where?)
