The Honourable Discharge certificate for Vernon St.John 6th Viscount Bolingbroke records that he had served during the Great War in the Training Reserve and had been disabled. It is dated November 6th 1918.
Vernon had been suffering from shell shock and received treatment at the Canadian General Kitchener Hospital in Brighton.
Prior to its being returned to Lydiard Park by his lordship's companion, Miss McLean, the certificate hung in a frame at their home at Crow Hill, near Ringwood in Hampshire..
