Letter from an official at The House of Lords to Henry St.John, 5th Viscount Bolingbroke, responding to a Writ of Summons which the Viscount had issued, concerning the spelling of his name as 'Bullingbrook 'on the official roll call. Henry was due to assume his position in the Lords and had objected to this antiquated version of his name.
In the letter the Henry is advised that the Lord Chancellor regrets it is not possible to correct the spelling of 'Bullingbrook' . He is advised to do as his ancestor the 1st viscount did, accept the anomaly and sign himself 'Bolingbroke'.
The letter is dated 24th May 1852.
