A fine seventeenth-century memorial over the south door and family entrance to St. Mary's Lydiard Tregoze, erected by Sir Giles Mompesson for himself and his wife Katherine St.John.
Sir Giles was brother-in-law to Sir John St.John 1st Bt of Lydiard Park. He was widely regarded as a notorious criminal, epitomising the corruption of the early Stuart regime.
A full-length portrait of Katherine standing (far right) alongside her five St.John sisters is seen on the central panel of the family polyptych in the chancel of the church
