A newspaper cutting of a glamourous looking wedding party outside St. Mary's Lydiard Tregoze, following the marriage of Mr Donald Hugh Henry Snowdon Pears (b.1911) of Brook (Farm) House and Miss Edith (Ena) de Pledge, of Blackpool.

Rodney was the son of dairy farmers Harold and Florence Pears. In the 1939 census he is recorded as living with his wife Edith at his parents farm in Lydiard Millicent, where he was assisting his father as Cowman. Florence and Edith are listed as being 'unpaid domestic', a usual way of describing the occupation of the women of the house.
