A rare photograph of a 11th Swindon (All Saints) Scout Group on their first camping visit at Lydiard Park in 1957. This year saw the opening of camping facilities in the old stable building, initiated by Group Leader Ernest 'Ernie' Cann, then Swindon's mayoral macebearer and secretary. Rudimentary sleeping quarters were provided on the ground floor of the former service wing of Lydiard House.
