Prisoner of War Roll of names, Lydiard Park, 1947

A list of names of Prisoners of War at No 160 Lydiard Park POW Camp, taken on the evening of 30th September 1947.

180 prisoners are listed, We know a little about two of the men, Dr Eckert Heise and Peter Probst, both amateur artists. Dr Heise was on good terms with camp translator John Bailey, sending his wife a hand drawn Christmas Card in 1946. Peter Probst became friends with local families and painted pictures for them, some of which are treasured to this day.
