Small envelope marked 'Lady Emily Seymour Ointment for Boils'/ 'Excellent'.

It was preserved along with several others medicinal remedies in papers belonging the 6th Viscount Bolingbroke.

Lady Emily Seymour (1816 -1902) Marchioness of Hereford, the author of the remedy, was possibly a friend or acquaintance of 5th Viscount Bolingbroke. The photographic portrait of Lady Emily shown here belongs to the Royal Collection Trust.

There are various medicinal items belonging to the 5th Viscount Bolingbroke which are preserved in the Lydiard House museum collection.
