Letter sent on 10th November 1899 from the Solicitors acting for Canon Maurice St.John, to the Swindon Solicitors that they understood to have represented the recently deceased Henry St.John, 5th Viscount Bolingbroke.

Royds and Rawstorne say they no nothing about the estates of the late Lord Bolingbroke. On behalf of Canon St.John they enquire whether the estates are entailed with the title or whether they were separately at the disposal of Lord Bolingbroke, and if so, how they are to be disposed.

Canon Maurice William St.John was the heir presumptive to the 5th Viscount but probably due to the secretive nature of the viscount, he knew little about any provisions the viscount may have made in his will.
