Research undertaken by A E Barnes in to the surname and family history of the Gleed family in relation to Lydiard Tregoze, from their first known appearance in the late 17th century to the height of their prosperity in the first half of the 19th Century, when thatcher Adam Gleed owned ten cottages on Hassel Hill Common (later known as Cob Gutter).
