Walter Francis (Frank) Strange (1906-1995) was a keen gardener all his life, entering shows and winning prizes for his vegetables and flowers.

The first picture shows Frank outside his home at Cob Gutter in Greenhill, Lydiard Tregoze. The second, taken in the 1990s, shows him tending his plants at No 1 Hook Street. Frank's son John remembers his father coming home from work in the Great Western Railway Factory and spending all evening in the garden, apart from popping in to listen to The Archers on the radio.
