This article tells the story of Mrs Hannah Strange (1918-2004) from Hook, and her family. During her early married life, Hannah and young family lived at Greenhill moving into Cobgutter Cottage in 1946. The article describes how hard life must have been for her there:

'no modern conveniences, no drinking water laid on, no electricity and no gas - very primitive indeed, but the family (now increased to five) say they were happy days which they remember with fond affection.'

A Sunday school outing to Weymouth and an incident where Hannah was forced off a bus with a pram show what a resourceful and undaunted person was.

In later life she as a great supporter of Purton and District Age Concern.
