Portrait of Robert Rich, 3rd Earl of Warwick (1611-1759), father of Lady Mary Rich who married Henry 1st Viscount St.John in 1673.

Robert supported the Royalist cause during the English Civil War but never bore arms.

This portrait, part of the original St.John family collection, was sold by Vernon St.John, 6th Vsct Bolingbroke at Christies in 1943, following his departure from Lydiard Park. It was purchased by Lydiard House in 2010 with assistance from The Art Fund and the Friends of Lydiard Park.
