The article traces the history of the Socchi desk at Lydiard Park and gives a summary of its restoration by Julian Howard of The Restoration Company. ( A full conservation report is held at Lydiard House).

Restoration was grant funded by the Ernest Cook Trust as part of the Lydiard House Treasure Forever Scheme which commenced in 1998 to conserve and display vulnerable and important pieces in the collection.
