Ada Ward-Boughton Leigh was a distant cousin of Vernon St.John, 6th Viscount Bolingbroke and also, it seems, a friend.

The Ward Boughton-Leighs were clearly considered to be relations of note. Ada's picture is nicely framed and photographs of her and her family are included in the St.John's family photograph albums at Lydiard House.

When Lord Bolingbroke left Lydiard Park during World War II he took up temporary residence at Ada's former home, Brownsover Hall near Rugby. Ada assisted him in selling some of the St.John family portrait collection at Christies in 1943. Fortunately for Lydiard Park, the majority of pictures didn't attract a buyer and Swindon Corporation were able to acquire them in 1965.
