Three documents recording the order to discontinue burials in the church and churchyard at Lydiard Tregoze. The grounds for closure related to previous Acts made in the interest of public health.
In the first document, dated 17th September 1885 (At the Court of Balmoral), it records that burials should be immediately discontinued inside the church and in the churchyard after 30th April 1886 unless:
In such vaults and wholly walled graves as are now existing in the Churchyard burials may be allowed on condition that every coffin buried therein be separately enclosed by stonework or brickwork properly cemented.
The second document, dated 6th May 1886 (At the Court of Buckingham Palace) the closure of the churchyard is postponed until 31st December 1886.
In the third document, dated 17th September 1885 (At the Court of Osborne House, Isle of Wight) the closure of the churchyard is yet further postponed until July 1887.
