A silver rose bowl presented to Vernon Henry St.John to celebrate his coming of age on March 15th 1917. The young lord's tenants clubbed together to purchase the rose bowl from Messrs. H.J. Deacon and Sons, Ltd, Jewellers and Silversmiths of Wood Street, Swindon.
A substantial gift, the bowl is ornamented with lion masks, swags and medallion and ribbon decoration, complete with carrying handles and mesh top. It is inscribed:
Presented to the Right Honourable Vernon Henry St. John 6th Viscount Bolingbroke by the Tenants of the Lydiard Park Estate on the Occasion of his Coming of Age - March 15th 1917.
The bowl was hallmarked in Sheffield in 1915, and was made by Martin Hall + Company, a well known Sheffield family of silver smiths renowned for manufacturing large presentation pieces of silver.

In 2024 the rose bowl returned to Deacon & Son Ltd of Swindon, to be meticulously cleaned in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Lord Bolingbroke's death in 1974.
The bowl was accompanied by a leather bound volume which records the names of the committee who organised the presentation and all the tenants and others associated with the estate who subscribed to it. See Items of Interest
