Contractors reinstating the hoggin path down the grand avenue at Lydiard Park as part of the £5.3 million Lydiard Park Landscape Restoration Project (2004-7).

The path reinstatement was based on archaeological investigations that revealed the exact width and surface of the original drive. A lime tree avenue was planted either side, stretching out into West Park, to replace elms lost to Dutch Elm Disease in the 1970s.

Paths were reinstated across the park as part of the restoration project to enable visitors to access and explore the wider landscape. It also enabled Lydiard Parkrun to launch their popular weekly community run in 2010.
