'Lediiard Tregoze' (Seat of Lord Bolingbroke) Wiltshire'
The engraving by J. Smith was created from a drawing by Frederick Nash in c1808 for The Beauties of England and Wales (published by John Britton & Edward Brayley between 1801-1815). Frederick Nash was an architectural draughtsman, watercolourist, and publisher. He collaborated with the antiquary John Britton between 1801 and 1809.
The engraving shows the Palladian house to best advantage, seen across the lake with picturesque groups of cattle.
Nash undertook a series of drawings of Lydiard Park and monuments within St. Mary's Church at the beginning of the 19th century. See related items.
A framed tinted engraving is on display in the Library at Lydiard House.
