Osborne House on the Isle of Wight was used as an officer's convalescent home during World War I. Charles St.John was sent here to recover from his injuries.

' He had been hit by shell fire, blown out of his trench and for two or three days he was missing in action. He was found wandering in a state of shock, with shrapnel injuries to his head.' See Related Items: Lydiard at War by Frances Yeo
