Margaret North (nee Willetts), was seventeen when she moved to Lydiard Tregoze with her parents. Her father, Rev. W.H. Willetts, had been offered the living of St. Mary's by Lady Bolingbroke and the family moved into the rectory in September 1936.

Her recollections are mostly of the estate manager Edward Hiscock and fond memories of Lady Bolingbroke and her son Vernon St.John. There are descriptions of life at the rectory, Lydiard Park and the house.
