Mr Painter gives an account of his family history taken from stories told by his grandfather John Painter, who had been Head Gamekeeper for Lord Bolingbroke at Lydiard Park and lived at Brook Cottage, which still stands on the edge of Lydiard Park today. Her also draws on his own memories of living and growing up at Southleaze Farm and visiting Lydiard Park.

Discover tales of poaching and fishing, the lake dam bursting, shooting accidents and the first horse drawn mowing machine to be seen in the village.
